Jamie Does Andalucia was the second in the new Jamie Oliver television series and concentrated on that region of Southern Spain and some of the food and culture. I think that any Jamie Oliver fans out there will have thoroughly enjoyed that one. I particularly enjoyed this programme as I have some knowledge of the area and am a great fan of Spanish style cooking and tapas particularly. Watching him gazing out across the countryside from the bridge at Ronda made me want to jump into the car and head for the airport. Jamie applied himself to the task in hand with his usual enthusiasm (ok some find it a bit wearing but you have to love the food). From coast to mountains and the classic Spanish landscape and buildings then back to coast again.
In between he cooked a giant paella, tomato salad with chorizo (I have made this and love it!) and salt baked fish which I fully intend trying as well. "The best fish he has ever had". Not sure I can add to that. Several other dishes made their way onto the screen too. There is a book, of course, to accompany the series and this contains quite a few recipes in addition to those in the television series. There is a fairly extensive tapas section in the recipe book with a range of dishes to suit most. As usual with Jamie's recipes they are clear and concise and easy to follow.
The accompanying photography is beautiful and really complements the style of Jamie's cookery and presentation. A great addition to any kitchen bookshelf.
